It is my great pleasure to introduce you to our next blog series: Conversations about Jesus Christ. The aim  is to share relevant conversations about Jesus Christ.

Such discussions should be part of the daily life for anyone who calls themselves a Christian. We should be seeking to share Jesus with others at every opportunity. This includes settings such as home, work and social gatherings.

This is a personal challenge for me as the writer of this blog. I need to improve in having conversations about Jesus with as many people as God will lead me to. I already do this to an extent, but I must aim to do more. Also, I need to pay more attention to the Holy Spirit as He guides me in choosing which conversations to share.

The plan is to publish a blog every two weeks. Each blog will share one or more conversations depending on the depth and lessons learnt.

What type of conversations about Jesus?

The parent category of this series of blog is ‘’The Gospel’’. But our first mini-series would be a focus on the cornerstone of the Gospel, Jesus Christ. This encompasses any conversation had about Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God, the Gospel, Witnessing, Evangelism, etc.

The conversations can be:

–         by anyone and with anyone.

–         with individuals or groups.

–         in the workplace, playground, church, meetings, etc.

–         on the phone, in person, in writing, emails, letters, etc.

–         It can be with oneself (Body, Spirit, and Soul).

–        The conversations can even be in dreams and visions.

What is the purpose?

Every Christ Disciple has been called to the Great Commission and this is clear in the Word of God. According to Matthew 28:18-20 – 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

If we want to obey Jesus’s Great Commission, we need to talk about Him to others. However, many have been led to believe that this call is only for the ‘Evangelists’. The truth is that all Christ Disciples have been called to witness for Jesus.

A good article to read about how to start a conversation about Jesus Christ can be read at https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/how-to-start-a-conversation-about-jesus

The article encourages disciples about the reason to have conversations about Jesus Christ. It illustrates how to overcome barriers such as awkwardness, using everyday examples such as saying hello.

The hope is that by sharing these daily, simple and random Jesus-related conversations, others will be encouraged to do the same. This will then help others along their journey of salvation and discipleship.

What help is needed

The most important support I need for this blog is your prayers. Please, join me in praying that the purpose that Jesus sent me to write these blog series will be fulfilled. Pray that every conversation shared will reach those that it was meant by God.

You can also support me by reading the blog, subscribing to the newsletter, making comments, and sharing with others. Please feel free to contact me to discuss any material published in the blog. I appreciate your advice, suggestions, and encouragement.

Lastly, I invite fellow Brethren, friends, and colleagues in the Great Commission to let me know if they had conversations they would like to share with the public. We can discuss, pray, listen to the Holy Spirit, and agree on what and when to publish.

I am interested in any type of conversation about Jesus Christ, whether from Christian or non-Christian. So, regardless of your relationship with Jesus, I urge you to pay attention to any conversations you will have about Jesus. I strongly believe Jesus Himself would lead you to the right conversations, and the Holy Spirit will nudge you when it is time to share.

An example of conversation about Jesus

I met a young man on the street a few weeks ago during our local outreach. We spoke for a few minutes and the young man shared that he is from a Christian family but that he no longer believes in Jesus. He was invited to re-dedicate his life to Jesus, but he said he was not ready. The reason he said is that he would not be able to achieve the great things he wants in life.

I took his telephone number and I have been trying to keep in touch and arrange a time for us to meet and continue the conversation.

We spoke on the phone this weekend and again he said there are things he is doing now that are of the flesh. He does not feel ready to leave those things and commit to Jesus and he feels he cannot do both at the same time.

I tried to encourage the young man that Jesus wants him back as he is and that God will help him deal with the issues of the flesh. Jesus wants us to be successful in life to bring glory to His name so following Christ will not stop him from achieving greatness in life. I hope to meet with him soon so we can have a deeper conversation over a meal or coffee. Our conversations about Jesus Christ is to be continued.

Reflections on the conversation about Jesus Christ

My learning from this conversation about Jesus Christ is that we need to be truthful when we share the Gospel. Many believers have been led astray by the so-called ‘prosperity’ teaching that the Christian life is trouble free. Others have been discouraged by the portray of the Christian life as dull, impoverished, and full of drudgery.

The fact is that being a Christian does not mean we would be exempted from trouble. But Jesus Christ will be with us through the difficulties, and will give us the power to overcome.

Therefore, we should aim to show our lives with the joy, peace, and love of the Holy Spirit regardless of our circumstances. We should work hard where God has placed us in so that we can be successful and bring glory to His name. Most importantly, we need to show that our focus is not on things of this world, but on the new heavens, the new earth, and the reward waiting for us when we see Jesus.

Please pray that this young man will make time to meet, and for wisdom as I look to support him on his journey with Christ. Please pray that Christ would be revealed to him as he did to the prodigal son. The father is always waiting to welcome him or any of us home.

I would like to share my thoughts about Jesus, His Kingdom, and His disciples as revealed in Matthew Chapter 27 and 28.
